How does the charge work?

This part is important. When you first place your order, your credit card will be charged as a pre-authorization to reserve the space for the order. This will show up as a pending transaction on your statement. Once each vendor has verified they can fulfill, the order will be completed and you should get an email. From there, the charge will complete on your credit card statement. 

If your order is canceled for some reason, the pre-auth may still appear on the statement until a timeout period occurs with your bank. We don’t control that time, but we’ll work with you to ensure that you aren’t charged for products you don’t receive! 

Do I need an account to shop online?

There is a lot of deliciousness to behold, so go ahead and take your time browsing through all the goodies available on our site. You can shop with no pressure – simply add or delete items from your cart without having to commit to a subscription or contract. Only when you are ready to proceed to check out will you need to sign in or provide any contact or payment information.

How do I order products that are based on weight?

Depending on the store, weighted products sold on this site are priced per kilogram (kg), per pound (lb), per 100 grams (g) or by each item (ea), just like at any grocery store. When stores are filling your order, they will try to get as close to the amount requested as possible. Our members may also call you to confirm your order – we want to make sure you get it just the way you want.

Per kilogram (kg): Products such as meat that are charged by the actual weight of the item when the order is filled. For example, you may have selected 1 kg of Stewing Meat at $18.50/kg. When the order is filled it may weigh-in at 1.08 kg and you will be charged $19.98 accordingly.

Per Pound (lb): Products such as meat that are charged by the weight of the item you selected. For example, you may have selected 2 lbs of Lamb Chops at $22.50/lb. When the order is filled it will be $44.50 and you will be charged accordingly.

Per 100g: Products such as deli meats and cheese that are charged by the actual weight of the item when the order is filled. For example, you may have selected a 250 g wedge of Double Cream Brie at $4.65/100g and 250 g of Montreal Smoked Meat at $2.50/100g. When the store is hand-cutting a wedge of cheese for your order, it may actually weigh in at 268g and you will be charged $12.47 accordingly. When the store is slicing your deli meat, it may actually weigh in at 261 g and you will be charged $6.53 accordingly.

Each: Products sold by each item that are weighted items such as meat and cheese, and are charged by the actual weight of the item when the order is filled. For example, you may have selected two Ribeye Steaks at $4.89/100g. Ribeye Steak 1 might cost $16.59 and Ribeye Steak 2 might cost $14.77 based on their individual weights and you will be charged $31.36 accordingly.

What if I am not able to be home for delivery?

We can’t wait to deliver all of your culinary goodies! A deeply heart-felt thank you for your support! Your order will be delivered between 3pm -8pm to the shipping address you have provided, on the day you have selected for delivery.

While it would be optimal for you to be home for your delivery, if you are not home, our driver can leave it with a neighbour if indicated by a note on your door or leave your order on your property. they take a picture of the location and email you the picture to confirm where it has been delivered. Once delivered, Best of Calgary Foods, its vendors and courier are no longer responsible or liable for your order. Please note, if you are not home to receive your order, you will be charged a deposit fee of $20 per bin, which can be refunded by returning your bin with cooling bags to any of the vendor’s stores or leaving it outside your door on your next delivery. Refunds will be done online and not from the store directly.

Please note that someone of majority age must show ID to receive your goods that contain alcohol. If you are not home to show ID, the rest of your order can be left on your property but the alcohol must be returned to the vendor. You will then have to pick up your alcohol yourself at the vendor’s store or arrange another delivery, which will include an additional delivery charge of $10.

I live in an apartment. Can you just leave it in the lobby?

Thanks for placing an order! Your order will be delivered between 3pm -8pm to the shipping address you have provided, on the day you have selected for delivery.

If left in the lobby, our driver will take a picture of the location and email you the picture to confirm where it has been delivered. Please note, if you are not home to receive your order, you will be charged a deposit fee of $20 per bin, which can be refunded by returning your bin with cooling bags to any of the vendor’s stores or returned to the driver on your next delivery. What if I am away from the office or in a meeting? Can someone else receive my order for me at work?

Yes, absolutely. Just leave a note for the driver with those instructions.

Do I have to show ID when I purchase alcohol?

Yes, a person receiving an order containing alcohol will be asked to provide government-issued picture ID to confirm majority age.

I can’t find something online that I usually get at one of the stores.

Not all products available in-store are available online. However, you can go to our Contact Us Page, select that particular store and see if they would be willing to accommodate your request.

Why does the estimated product price listed on the site differ from what I was actually charged?

This generally occurs when you have ordered a weighted product like meat, deli or cheese. Often the product is close to the requested amount but when actually weighed out on a real scale, it is slightly more or less, hence the price adjustment. You will only be charged for the actual weight of the item, as if you were in the store yourself.

I ordered something but it didn’t come in my delivery.

We try our very best to make sure your order is filled just the way it was placed. On occasion, something may have been temporarily out of stock. A member store may have tried to contact you to see if you’d like a substitution but was unsuccessful in reaching you. Please feel free to go to the Contact Us Page and select the store that missed the item and they will work to get it out to you. Please note, you will not be charged for items that were not sent in your delivery.  

I’m not happy with something in my order.

So sorry to hear that. We’d like to make it right for you. Please feel free to go to the Contact Us Page and select the store of the item that you are not happy with and they will work to fix it.

What if something is out of stock but I’d still like to order it?

Occasionally, we will sell out of a product that will be temporarily unavailable on our site. Again, this is not permanent and will be made available again once it is back in stock. Alternately, please feel free to go to the Contact Us Page and connect with the store that carries this item. They will be able to let you know when the product will be back in stock and help you on your way. 

When will my credit card be charged?

All orders will be processed for payment once all vendors have confirmed their portion of the order is filled. This helps us ensure that we accommodate weighted products and items that are in your order but temporarily out of stock. Only items that are filled on your order will be charged.

How will my order arrive?

Your order will come in a sealed plastic bin or bins depending on how much you ordered. Bins are not left with you, but are taken back at the same time your goods are received and then are sterilized for reuse.

How can I change my credit card information?

Simply sign-in to your account and select Update Payment Methods.
